Seb Messina was born in Cairns and lived in beautiful tropical North Queensland for many years. As a youth Seb spent his spare time exploring the tropical rain forest that was his backyard. It was normal that he should develop a love and respect for the incredible works of nature. Seb is absolutely devoted to representing that natural beauty through his landscape and nature photography.
Coming from a family in which many are blessed with the creative eye, it was natural that he should develop an deep interest in the art of photography, which has followed him throughout his life, first as a hobby, then as a profession. Seb has remained passionate about photography, always building his knowledge and abilities.
In Cairns he established his profession as a photographer , building an enviable reputation for excellent work and absolute reliability. His studio serviced all aspects of photography, so he built a diverse broad range of diverse photographic skills. Seb is at home shooting portraits, capturing an incredible landscape doing an intricate product shoot or climbing into a trench meters below ground to capture a job in action.
Seb has been at the coal face of photography during the transition from traditional film to digital and has adapted to the quantam leap with a large investment in time, effort and financial resources. Ten years ago he would shoot dozens of rolls of film in one day, today his commercial assignments are exclusively digital.
Thriving on the challenges of producing innovative images, working on creative projects and shooting cutting edge photography, his greatest satisfaction comes from working with his clients to capture the cutting edge images that they need.
Seb reserves film for his nature and landscape art work and photo shoots that he knows are better captured on film for its different & special look.
Seb has lived in Brisbane since 2001, moving to the Queensland capital with his wife Mary. He now specilaises in all aspects of commercial, industrial and corporate photography. He is proud that his sons are both into the visual arts Ben is an accomplished landscape photographer and Sam is sculpts jewellery from recycled materials producing fantastic colours and shapes.
Seb cares for his community and his profession, he is a member of the Rotary Club of Brisbane Mid City and is an accredited member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography.
